Are headaches taking over your life? Have you had no relief from other treatments? The MYK System is for you!
A unique, non-invasive technique that offers fast acting, effective and long lasting results. We address the root cause of the problem rather than merely treating symptoms.
Performed by a Licensed Massage Therapist, this technique is vastly different from a traditional massage. Your therapist will stretch and stimulate only the muscles along the effected nerve path, releasing contracted muscles and "resetting" the muscle memory. It normally takes 6-8 sessions to completely "reset" the muscle memory. To get the quickest results the first 2-3 sessions need to be done in the same week.
Your first session will include a Postural analysis, 30 minute neck/shoulder massage to loosen the muscles and a MYK session to reset the muscle memory. After that, you can choose between a 30 minute targeted massage and MYK session or just a MYK session.
What is a session like We do not use lotions or oil and you will remain fully clothed. The session will begin with a targeted neck and shoulder massage. We will then actively and passively stretch specific muscles within a nerve root while light pressure is applied to each muscle. There is no pain involved and we will only stretch within your comfortable range of motion.
MYK System History
Myokinesthetics System was developed in the mid 1990’s by Dr Michael Uriarte, a Kansas chiropractor who spent years searching for a better way to treat contracted muscles that affect the peripheral and central nervous system. While first practicing the technique on his own clients, their feedback was to ask him to no longer do adjustments and focus only on the new work as it was giving them so much relief. By stimulating muscles along a specific nerve pathway, he found that he could assist the muscle in sending a signal to the brain that says, essentially, “there’s a change happening here” and effect improvement in balance, greater range of motion, and a decrease in pain.
